SAN FRANCISCO, June 7, 2010 – San Francisco voters must deliver their vote-by-mail ballots to a polling place or to the Department of Elections before the close of polls at 8 p.m. tomorrow for those vote-by-mail ballots to be counted. Vote-by-mail envelopes that are postmarked before 8 p.m. but which arrive to the Department after this time cannot be counted.

Voters can deliver their vote-by-mail ballots to the Department’s office on the ground floor of City Hall or to any polling place in the City. Voters should ensure that their vote-by-mail envelopes are sealed and signed before dropping them off.

As it has done for many years, the United States Postal Service will seek to acquire all vote-by-mail ballots present at branch post offices and transport these ballots to the Evans Street Post Office by 8 p.m. Department of Elections’ representatives will be present at that time to accept all vote-by-mail ballots the USPS has collected.
