Today Is the Deadline to Request a Vote-by-Mail Ballot for the June 8 Consolidated Statewide Direct Primary Election

SAN FRANCISCO, June 1, 2010 – Today is the last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot for the upcoming June 8 Consolidated Statewide Direct Primary Election. All completed vote-by-mail ballot requests must be received by the Department of Elections by 5 p.m. today. Postmarks will not count.

Voters who wish to request a vote-by-mail ballot before today’s deadline have the following options:

  • Apply online at the Department of Elections website, http://sfelections.org/vbm/
  • Send a request by fax to (415) 554-4372. Be sure to include your printed name and signature, date of birth, residential address, and any address you wish the ballot to be mailed if different from your residence. It is recommended that you also include your telephone number so the Department can contact you if necessary.

San Francisco voters can also come to the Department of Elections, on the ground floor of City Hall, to vote in person from now through Election Day. Weekday voting hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Election Day, the Department will be open for voting from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voted ballots must be received by the Department of Elections no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day, June 8. Postmarks will not count. Voters can return their ballots by mail, in person at City Hall, or to any polling place in San Francisco on Election Day.
