The Department of Elections is hosting its Open House on Wednesday, May 19 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in preparation for the upcoming Consolidated Statewide Direct Primary Election on June 8, 2010.
Open House at the Department of Elections, located on the ground floor of City Hall, is a great opportunity to get a first-hand look at how elections are conducted. The public is invited to come attend the following events:
View a Demonstration of the Voting System
The demonstration includes the optical-scan Insight voting machine and the accessible touchscreen Edge machine.
Tour the Department of Elections and Receive an Observer Guide
Take a tour of key operations in the Department of Elections and receive an Observer Guide with the rules and regulations elections observers are required to follow.
Learn What Voters Need to Know to Make Their Votes Count
Review the sample ballot and voter guide for the June 8, 2010 Consolidated Statewide Direct Primary Election.
Learn More About the Resources the Department of Elections Has to Offer
Candidates and campaigns may obtain materials produced by the Department to educate supporters.
Sit in on a Poll Worker Training Class
Learn about what it takes to run a polling place on Election Day, from operating voting machines to securing ballots after the polls close. The class will be held in Room 34, on the ground floor of City Hall, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
